Laser Hair Removal

Last year I bought an at-home laser for a more permanent solution for (primarily) pubic hair removal, the Tria Hair Removal Laser 4x. I’ve used it sporadically and although I certainly notice some benefit I haven’t been disciplined enough to really get the most out of it.

My hope is to have all of the hair in my pubic, genital, and anal areas permanently gone. I’d also like that for my butt cheeks, thighs, back, belly, and chest so essentially everything below my neck and above my knees. Unfortunately, I don’t have the thousands of dollars it would cost to have that done professionally, thus the at-home laser.

My wife is all for it and my main motivation is the fact that I am plagued with ingrown hairs no matter what I do. Over the past 5 years I’ve tried everything I possibly could to remove the hair and try to prevent the ingrown hairs. I’ve come to realize that it’s just a fact of my body that I will get them. In fact, I get ingrown hairs even if I don’t shave, wax, etc. The only positive thing to have come of this is that I’ve gotten pretty good at Photoshop.

In an effort to be more consistent with using the laser I’ve decided to document the process here with photos. The laser has 5 power levels and I’m going to be using the highest to the extent I can handle it. I’m also going to focus on small areas at a time because it takes a long time.

The laser covers a very small area with each pulse; it takes about 20-30 pulses to cover 1 square inch. At roughly 2 seconds per pulse (for me) I can cover about 1 square inch per minute. My pubic area is something like 35-40 sq. in. and I just don’t have the patience for that. I usually go for about 15 min. before wanting to stop. So I’d be setting myself up for failure to try and be disciplined enough to use it more consistently and for a longer time per session. I’m going to commit to using it more consistently and just go for however long I feel like it.

To start, I’m going to focus on the waistline above my pubic area. I’ll usually jump around a little bit during a session, maybe hit the pubic area a little bit or whatever, but for the sake of documenting my process I’ll try to stay methodical.

Here’s some before photos. They aren’t pretty because I’m not editing them at all, and unfortunately I have a few bad ingrown hairs at the moment.
